Most often used stationary phase in reversed phase mode. Silica gel based columns with C18 modification are available with or without endcapping. Classically endcapped phases are slightly more hydrophobic and non-polar than the not endcapped phases.

Eurospher C18 packing material can be universally used in different application areas and has been on the market for more than 15 years. The most often used material is the endcapped Eurospher 100 C18 for the reversed phase mode, followed by the less hydrophobic Eurospher 100 C8. Both can be considered for the determination of water soluble vitamins, steroids, catecholamines, sedatives and in many other application fields in the analytical as well as preparative range. The stationary phase is stable in a pH range of 2 - 8.5. Eurospher C18 is the workhorse of reversed phase applications.
