Amino acid analysis is a considerable application applied in research, clinical facilities and industrial processes. The application described in this study uses o-Phtalaldehyde (OPA) as pre-column derivatizing reagent. OPA is a well-known and reliable derivatization reagent for amino acid analysis. Its significantly lower price compared to other derivatization reagents like 6- aminoquinolyl-N-hydroxysuccinimidyl carbamate (AQC) makes this reagent very attractive for the use in routine analyses.
