Increased application fitting
Selecting the right flow cell is critical to ensure that absorbance values are within the (linear) range of the detector. KNAUER flow cells in cartridge design are very easy exchangeable by just clicking them out without any tools.

Increased Flow Cell Flexibility
KNAUER fiber optics technology offers the possibility to separate the flow cell spatially from the detector via fiber optic cables in a distance up to 10 meters. This enables the measurement of UV/VIS absorption in flow-through mode remotely from the detector.
With an optional fiber optics adapter the possibility to separate the flow cell spatially from the device can be realized. Thus provides enhanced security for hazardous, explosive or toxic work processes, as well as protecting the device from leakages at high flow rates.
With fiber optics the flow cell can be also located very close to the column, minimizing peak broadening. The UV nano flow cell with fiber optics technology from KNAUER received the Best of Industry award 2017.
Increased Pressure Stability
The KNAUER PressureProof flow cell cartridges are optimized for conventional and high flow HPLC and FPLC applications.
These flow cells feature:
- increased pressure stability (up to 300 bar)
- extended flow rate range (up to 20, 100 and 200 ml/min).
The KNAUER PressureProof flow cells are available for all AZURA® UV/VIS detectors in cartridge and classic design.
Increased Sensitivity
The Standard LightGuide Flow Cell Cartridge combines total reflection technology with small cell volume for highest sensitivity and demanding high resolution applications.
The KNAUER LightGuide flow cell cartridges combine maximum light throughput (due to total internal reflection) with minimal peak dispersion (due to the small cell volume) to guarantee an optimized signal to noise (S/N) ratio.
The LightGuide technology stands for:
- total reflection technology for excellent light transmission
- low cell volume enabling detection of fast eluting peaks
The High Sensitivity KNAUER LightGuide flow cell is ideal for trace analysis.
The Standard KNAUER LightGuide flow cell is ideal for high throughput and high resolution.
The great advantage of LightGuide flow cells and their low dispersion volume seen in UHPLC does not play a major role in classical HPLC as the complete system dispersion volume is much larger.
Increased Path Length Variety
The flow cell pathlength defines the volume of the sample exposed to the analyzer’s light beam, this means that adjusting the length of the flow cell determines how much of the sample is being measured. A higher pathlength value results in more sensitivity.
Typical analytical flow path values are 10 mm or 50 mm. Typical semipreparative and preparative applications need lower path lengths in the range of 0.5 mm up to 3 mm length.
