There are a number of factors that control the number of injections any modern HPLC column can withstand. Some of the factors are based upon the mode, some of these factors are based upon the type of packing in the column and again some factors are based upon the phase itself. HPLC columns could generate proper and reliable results for many years. Column care, sample, sample preparation and measuring conditions (pH, pressure, temperature) have a very strong influence on the column lifetime. It can be strongly recommeded to use a precolumn for saving column life time.
